Tottenham will start their Premier League campaign this season against Newcastle United on 11th of August.

Tottenham Hotspur might have been able to get into Europe 3 times in succession, but that’s not sufficient to satisfy their manager Mauricio Pochettino who reckons winning trophies is as important as making sure that the team plays in the Champions League.

Pochettino didn’t undermine the efforts of his boys though. He acknowledged that it’s fantastic from his team to earn a top 4 spot three times on the trot, but he stresses that it would have been icing on the cake if it had come with a trophy as well.

Arsene Wenger: Petr Cech Monitoring His Weight To Prolong His Career

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that goalkeeper Petr Cech is closely monitoring his weight with a view to maintaining his fitness in the final stages of his career. The Czech international will be approaching his 36th birthday in the summer, but Wenger is hoping that the shot-stopper will stick around until 40 just as former United ace Edwin van der Sar.

Speaking to reporters, Wenger praised Petr Cech as a perfectionist after having had a successful career in the English top-flight, where he has won numerous accolades including the Premier League and Champions League with ex-club Chelsea. The experienced campaigner has received plenty of stick from the fans owing to his reduced agility in front of goal, but Wenger still has his trust in his keeper, who insists follows a strict regime in order to extend his professional career. Lovren Takes Swipe at Manchester Clubs

Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has taken a swipe at rivals like Manchester City and Manchester United by claiming that it takes more than just money in order to get success. Liverpool have been able to finish in the top four while qualifying for the final of the Champions League in Kiev. The Reds will be taking on Real Madrid looking to win the Champions League for a sixth time.

Even though Manchester City have set new records in the division, they have once again failed to get the results when it comes to Europe. This is despite manager Pep Guardiola being given clear instructions to concentrate on Europe. LEHMANN BLAMES GALLAS FOR ARSENAL TITLE MISS OF 07/08

Arsenal legend Jens Lehmann blames former club skipper William Gallas for the Premier League title miss of 2007/08. The German revealed that the entire team was furious at their leader for throwing a now infamous tantrum at Birmingham City when the club dropped points.

Arsenal had played a 2-2 draw against Birmingham, dropping vital points as they chased the title. They conceded a late penalty that ensured both sides shared the spoils. An overwhelmed Gallas kicked the advertising board and then he sat down alone in Arsenal’s centre half.

Petr Cech slams Arsenal defeat against Liverpool as ‘unacceptable’

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has deemed the Gunners’ 4-0 loss to Liverpool as unacceptable.

The Gunners looked simply off the pace at Anfield as they failed to collectively to show up through the entire 90 minutes.

Following the thrashing, Cech admitted that the result was simply not acceptable as the team failed to show the fight, he said: “It was quite simply unacceptable for the size of the club we are and for the team we have. Obviously, you can come here and lose 4-0. OK, it can happen on a bad day when you fight but you are unlucky and your opponent is playing well and scores with every shot they have. Then it can happen. But not like it happened today. The way it happened today is unacceptable.”

Cech was the only player who appeared to show some resistance against a flamboyant Reds’ attack which could have had a few more goals barring the 35-year-old’s heroics. Despite the gruelling defeat, Cech is confident that the club can get back in their title race as it is still early in the season. The former Chelsea man added that he sees the club’s chances of lifting the English crown in the future, and this is the sole reason which has kept him going in his professional career. Russia increased its budget for the 2018 FIFA World Cup by $324 million

With the 2018 FIFA World Cup less than 1 year away from kicking-off, the host country Russia are preparing everything for the approaching worldwide football competition.

Just like every other previous edition of the tournament, there have been setbacks and obstacles that the host nation has to undergo and it´s no different this time around for Russia.

The initial budget that Russia was believed to have been of $10.5 billion and it has been elevated to $10.8 billion which is an increase of $324 million.

Even though it was not announced as to why exactly this enlargement occurred, considering some of the recent events that have been occurring, this change can be pointed towards several things.

Back on June of the ongoing year, there was an incident which emerged in the Russian city of Volgograd involving a fire in one of the stadiums that is being built to host a few matches for the impending competition. SUNDERLAND TO OCCUPY MANAGER’S SIT

Stefan Schwarz is reportedly keen on the managerial vacancy at Sunderland FC. David Moyes’ resignation means the Black Cats would need a new coach – the eighth one in less than six seasons.

However, Kevin Phillips, and former Leicester boss Nigel Pearson are the favourites, according to the bookies for the role.

Schwarz used to play alongside Phillips. He is fondlyremembered by the fans as a member of the side that secured back-to-back seventh-place finishes under Peter Reid in 2000 and 2001.

“I spent four very good years at Sunderland and it is a club that I care very much for”, but was a guest at the Black Cats’ final two home games of the season. I have played for some very big clubs in Europe and won a lot of trophies, but my time at Sunderland is right up there with any of those,” the 48-year-old said.
